Tomorrow can be a pivotal day for future of India. Narendra Modi led
National Democratic Alliance is almost certain to form the government
ending a decade of corruption, bad governance, inflation and poor growth .There was
not much economic progress of this nation in the last decade albeit there were
plenty of opportunities;the stage was stage for India to become a new
superpower after United States and China.Alas, the precious
opportunity was wasted because the people of India have chosen a wrong party to lead the nation.
Manmohan
Singh,as the finance minister of Narasimha Rao led government in the
year of 1991,reformed Indian economy by opening the Indian market for international trade and investment, deregulating, initializing
privatization, reforming tax. While it is debatable whether he should be
really credited for that neo-liberal policy or the reform was an
accident due to the pressure sustained by the bailout deal of IMF,Dr.
Singh should be blamed for not being able to grow Indian economy at a
time when more than half of our population has been in the productive
age group between 15 to 50.Instead,progressively an average Indian has
been facing more difficulties in sustaining the livelihood than ever.
Fortunately,India
still has a chance to be the growth engine of the world if the new
government facilitates inclusive growth. We already established global
footprint in the service sector. We need to excel in the manufacturing
sector too.If Mr. Narendra Modi can propel India on the growth track
similar to what he has done so far in his native state,we can definitely
hope for a better future.
There
is a caveat. If the minorities choose to elect Mr. Modi to govern this
country,he should ensure that there should not be any
communal tension owing to favoring any particular religion. While he must
stop illegal immigrants from the neighbor countries, there should not be
any communal filtering in this act.Along with making India a global
powerhouse,Mr. Modi needs to dissuade fears of the minority groups and
took them along with to build a great nation.
Mr. Modi has a nation to build,is he up to the job?The time will tell.
